Writing.

A long time ago, when I ditched Lopico and started looking for my next project, I started writing fiction. I had a few other ideas for different sites that I wanted to create, but I decided to spurn them all in favor of writing. I was working on what I hoped to be a novel at the time, and I decided I needed to focus. To have just one project. So, I gave up writing code, and started writing fiction. But I always thought I’d return to code.

Now, I feel like I’m getting close to finishing that original project. It was about 90K words, then I scrapped it and started over. Now I’m at about 55K, which has taken me a good eight months to get to (did have a kid in that time though) but feel like I’m going to finish at about 80K in the next few months. And then I have to try to do something with it… or just print it and give it to my wife. Either way, the question of what next is starting to come up again. I could now get back to writing code, which I’ve definitely contemplated from timte to time. But… I don’t really think I want to.  It turns out I like writing fiction a whole lot more than I like writing code. Lopico and some of my other projects were a lot of fun, mostly from the self satisfaction you get from seeing an idea actually materialize on the screen in front of you, but when it comes right down to it… I think I’m done with writing code.
